The Importance of Friends

Watching my niece and daughter trade secrets today reminded me of when I was little and my cousin Margaret and I would see-saw at my grandparents ranch and talk about everything and nothing. Or when Diana and I crashed the golf cart into the playground fence at the ranch....well not such a good example because I threw her under the bus and had her tell grandma while I sat in grandpa's office and ate a lollipop even though I was the one driving.

But maybe that is the point - family and friendship isn't always fair but it usually is pretty even. Sometimes you are the secret teller and sometimes the secret keeper but everyone needs someone to share their secrets with. Someone who knows what scares you, what thrills you, the real story behind how you and your husband got together, and what you wish could be different.

Friends are the ones who know all your secrets and love you anyway.
